The Center for Writing Studies provides conference support through a travel award scholarship. Graduate students in the Writing Studies concentration can apply for up to $200 each academic year. To be considered, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be registered during the academic year the grant is received and in good academic standing.
- You must be invited as a participant to the conference and must supply evidence to support that fact.
- You are a student in the Writing Studies graduate concentration.
To apply, gather the following documents and email them to centerforwritingstudies@illinois.edu addressed to our Director, Lindsay Rose Russell prior to the conference. If your application is approved, you will hear from our Office Support Specialist with more information.
- proof of your invitation to speak
- one or more eligible receipts totaling the amount requested (can be more but reimbursement will be capped at the $200/year)
- the completed and signed application form
Keep in mind that this is considered a scholarship according to the university and, as such, can potentially impact your financial aid. For questions about your specific circumstances, contact the Office of Student Financial Aid at 217-333-0100 or finaidscholarships@illinois.edu.
Be sure to consult other opportunities and sources for external conference funding including departmental funding in your own field or unit of study.
